What do I wear for my Senior Session? Senior Guy Wardrobe Edition

As an Austin senior portrait photographer, questions about wardrobe are always at the forefront of our conversations. I get it! As a clothes wearing person, I too understand the anxiety and stress that simply picking out clothing can cause.

In home newborn sessions with a toddler

Toddlers are awesome and a bundle of energy that can explode, or implode, at anytime. They have no cares and no reservations. That said, they are also so tender, sweet, and want to show you all their special lovies, including "their" new baby.

Your Senior Session: The Basics

Let's start by stating the obvious - this is a HUGE milestone for you (and yes, your mom) and truthfully, you should want to celebrate it. While I'll spare you with the "such an exciting time" and "are you so excited?!" sentiments that you are already getting; I will still remind you this IS about … Continue reading Your Senior Session: The Basics

Your Family Session: The Basics | Austin Texas Family Photographer

March 9, 20221 Comment

My families choose me, time and again, to capture their season of life in a way that is artistic, authentic, and connective. They understand we are documenting their now; the space they occupy with the people they love. Their session is not so much about the where and the what; it's about the who and … Continue reading Your Family Session: The Basics | Austin Texas Family Photographer

My Monday {4:52}

January 22, 2018January 23, 2018Leave a comment

Another week in the books! We went from ice, below freezing and no school to 60's and sunshine in a matter of days!  My Texans sure do better with sunshine and blue a blue sky. This week has brought some new challenges and some great moments (okay, lessons) in family dynamics. It has also brought … Continue reading My Monday {4:52}

My Monday {3:52}

I am getting this one in... maybe a bit later but it's here! The last 7 days have been an adventure...  Not a super fabulous one that takes me to far off tropical lands.  Or even to an all day spa.  This adventure is one in home remodeling!  Please don't get me wrong, I am … Continue reading My Monday {3:52}

My Monday {1:52}

January 1, 20184 Comments

Monday, you sure do get a bad rap.  Let's be honest, you're not really the most ideal day of the week.  The first day back from a weekend.  The first day that many of us have to be 'on' and 'ready' and 'caffeinated.'  And you are waaaay too close to Friday for my liking (and Friday … Continue reading My Monday {1:52}

Parma Family {Sweet Moments} |Austin Family Photographer

December 20, 20172 Comments

When Allyson and I started chatting about their family session, we were both on the same page about the 'what' to capture.  The Parma's are big on breakfast making, as it's an all-hands-on-deck family affair.  Allyson's vision was to capture the true story of their typical day - love and laugher, pajamas and bedhead, and … Continue reading Parma Family {Sweet Moments} |Austin Family Photographer

Yikes!  It's been a bit since I blogged!  This time of year is crazy for me - how about you?  Between the end of year festivities (kids, family and friends), planning, shopping (or planning to shop), goal making, you then add in the catching up on work and sleep (in that order, by the way) … Continue reading The Swearingen Family | Austin Texas Family Photographer

If you've been on social media for more than a minute, you are sure to know the terms "first look" and "gender reveal". When you hear ‘the days are long but the years are short’ it may not really hit. I remember being pregnant with our second and feeling a sense of guilt, and a bit of self doubt. In home newborn sessions are truly about your beautiful new season. As a wife (for over 20 years), a mother (for almost 18), and a business owner (for almost 10 years), I I'm going to share something that is counter to what you may know, especially if you have followed me for a while, worked with me, or know me personally: It's been a long time since I've shared in the loop, but spring is about growth and revival. Mondays may not be the favorite but we can't stop them from coming. We can embrace them with the mindset of renewal, determination, and a really strong cup of coffee. Being asked to photograph any senior is always meaningful; this is a huge milestone and capturing it is a heartfelt honor. Even more so when I’ve captured them over the years and they’ve become like family.
